A cozy Winter outfit

scarf: Yarnz, cardigan: Zara, pants: H&M, slippers: Topshop

One good thing about Winter is the endless selection of comfortable yet fun looking outfits. Seriously though, what could be better than feeling warm and fuzzy in fashionable wares, resting on a cozy couch, perhaps sipping on some tea, safe from the outside winds? That's right my dears, and it looks like Yarnz, Zara, H&M and Topshop definitely get what I'm talking about! And if you're new to the blog and/or haven't seen my earlier posts, you can definitely see some of the same pieces featured here and here !

And where gloves are not required, one ought to bling it up a little. What do you think of my newest acquisitions?

A casual chic look...from runway models to fashion lovers

cardigan: et vous, t-shirt: Zara, legging pants: Joseph, ballet flats: Giuseppe Zanotti

Recognize those sparkling toe-cap ballet flats? Little did you know there was a sequel to Monday's post! It's not that I got cold feet about posting the rest of my outfit, no. I just thought I'd show those jewels off a little before I show you how they can be comfortably styled, on iconic models and fashion lovers alike.

Now here's how I exactly sported them. Dressed down for a casual Sunday look, my Zanottis certainly made the best friends I'd ever want to take out on a date at the MoMA: quietly walking through the exhibitions and happily scintillating each time I look at them. Pairing them with a light and semi-sparkling grey top guaranteed for them to get even more noticed, amid the explosion of navy in my outfit.

And there it is: the smile that follows with comfortable feet and chic. Conveniently enough, the above pictures well represent the evolution of style that trickles from model and fashion icons to style dissectors. If you don't believe me then see it for yourself below...

If Kate Moss endorses the fabulously chic look, then you should too!

Let a flower lean on your shoulder this Winter

Some days are just meant for lounging, chilling, tea-ing...you get the picture. Literally. Picture yours truly stopping by Mariebelle, a wondrous tea parlor and chocolatier in Soho. While I am not quite adept at teaching you the origins of chocolate, I can certainly dissect what I wore. And one detail of it in particular...how about that?

First, the big picture.Throwing black leather pants into your outfit is a Winter necessity, as it makes the look of every fashionista a little more rocker yet chic. It is a classic piece for the season, for a look that is far from the perception of the bad girl that is too often associated with leather. A slim/skinny cut guarantees a feminine silhouette while staying cool.

Put on a fitted duffle coat with a touch of fox trim, and you've got yourself a wild (yet elegant) look:
coat: Pinko

And better yet the coat comes off only to reveal more fashion jewels: a draped grey sweater with...now the detail: a decorated shoulder (which reminds us of Chanel's black Camellia), and a strong bib necklace to add a punk effect. Ta daa, see below:
sweater and leather pants: Zara, bib necklace: Jimmy Choo for H&M, ballet flats: Miu Miu

Ah yes--did I dare compare the ornament bejeweling my shoulder to Chanel's Camellia? Let us take a closer look:

Indeed, any fashion lover could easily make the association judging by the above picture. Chanel's original emblem, the Camellia, has influenced all areas in fashion, from the Zaras of today to Miuccia Prada's most ornate garments,  and not to forget Murakami's contribution to Louis Vuitton's past cherry blossom collections. This emblem, thanks to Coco, has morphed to become a necklace, a watch, a hat, a chignon, a detail on a button, or just a silk flower pinned to a dress. There was something radically simple about its shape, what Bott calls 'its perfect, almost geometric roundness'.

And with those leather pants, who said borrowing this iconic fashion accessory would be dainty? Try chic and funky instead, and let a flower lean on your shoulder this Winter.

Boho never goes out of Chic

After a short break, I'm ready to dissect some style.

Here's the deal: picture Jehdy. Remember Jehdy flaunting her animal prints? Little did you know she could sport different styles, including Boho Chic.

Boho Chic borrows its name from bohemians, the free spirited vagabonds, wanderers, gypsies, hippies, artists, children of the revolution, and members of other open minded counter cultures. The term “bohemian” has been used in since the 19th century to describe those associated with unorthodox social and political views. Bohemians recognize and respect the vast beauty that this planet  as well as its people contain. These views were often expressed through free love, free spirited nature, nomadic lifestyle, strong artistic influence, and presenting oneself in free flowing, easy to wear clothing and uninhibited accoutrements.

Boho Chic is hence associated with the laid back style of 1960′s and 70′s hippie fashion, and was revived in 2008 by gypsy style icon Sienna Miller. Features of the Boho Chic look include floaty skirts (especially long white ones), furry gilets, embroidered tunics, cropped jackets, large faux-coin belts, sheepskin and cowboy boots, baggy cardigans and hobo bags.

You can see Jehdy has further "hippied" up her look with some bold burgundy red bell bottoms, borrowing from the 1970's code of fashion. Ready to find out about the details of her outfit? Read below.

A very Lagerfeldian Halloween!

Lucky boys (and/or girls), this Halloween post is for you!

If you haven’t decided what to wear tonight, Karl Lagerfeld’s persona is a feasible-enough costume.

A little background...

Karl Lagerfeld

In his 25 years as head designer and creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld has not only secured the strong legacy and story of Coco Chanel but has also enhanced it by turning the house into one of the most powerful and profitable brands in the world.
Along the way, Lagerfeld has himself become a legend. With his white powdered ponytail, signature black sunglasses, and fingerless black gloves, he is the most recognizable fashion designer in the world. He is also known as the industry's resident Renaissance man. Indeed,
he knows all about change when it comes to the fashion industry. His extensive body of work -- currently for Fendi, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld -- explores a wide variety of always evolving looks.

And now, a couple of pointers...

Shirt: Cheap Monday, Blazer: Zadig & Voltaire, Boots: Marc Jacobs, Leggings: Zara, Bow Tie: Gemma Lister, Gloves: Club Monaco

Just grab yourselves a strong blazer, skinny tie (or in this case velvet bow tie), fingerless gloves, skinny pants, and dark aviator shades.
And if you feel adventurous enough, sport a white wig, tie your new white hair into a ponytail, aaand…

Ta daaaa! I present you the Kaiser, showing off his Diet Coke bottle, faux canvas “Karl Who?” bag and his beloved Ana Wintour!

Happy Halloween style dissectors! xoxo

Stepping into the wild: dissecting animal prints et cetera

Dissecting animal prints goes a long way...literally. Emerging in the 1940s during the early stage of the women's movement, these little wild adornments were first worn by Liberator pioneers such as Bettie Page who became the inspiration for animal print to be sexy and fashionable.

vest: Jack, blouse: Nasty Gal, leggings: Zara, booties: Prada, bag: Chanel

Sexy and fashionable...those are you to decide. I definitely went all out in front of another rad graffiti wall. Figured the explosion of color could add a playful twist!

pink quartz and ruby bracelet: Satya, croc effect leather bracelet: Miu Miu, skull bracelet in rose gold: LeiVanKash, brass heart pendant: In God We Trust, turquoise flower ring: Dicha

Queen Bling definitely gave a new meaning to Queen B...

From snake and zebra prints to leopard...we are dissecting all things wild--and even included Malo, Jehdy's adorable little dog!

Leopard print became an all time favorite of 1950′s fashion designer Christian Dior’s muse, Mitzah Bricard. Dior's accessories, lines, and campaigns became infused with leopard, associating animal print with chic sophistication and elegance.

The 1970's brought the dangerous side of animal print, particularly with nightgowns infused with animal prints, leopard print jumpsuits, bell bottoms, and even zebra print platform shoes. This era was also marked by the emergence of street art and hip hop music (hence our desire to incorporate graffiti wall art in our little photo shoot project).

And so the trend of the leopard print continues to mesmerize the fashion world. Here, we blend leopard chic with Native American prints and ripped tights. Peeking into the gate of nature and wilderness has never been so rad. All I can say is: hats off!
