One good thing about Winter is the endless selection of comfortable yet fun looking outfits. Seriously though, what could be better than feeling warm and fuzzy in fashionable wares, resting on a cozy couch, perhaps sipping on some tea, safe from the outside winds? That's right my dears, and it looks like Yarnz, Zara, H&M and Topshop definitely get what I'm talking about! Starry feet make the star

Today's post dissects the joys of wearing flats. Given heels always get all the attention, I figured why not give our most comfortable footwear some lovin'? Slippers and brogues are especially all the talk this season. Curious to see what I've got covered? Take a look at my fancy feet!

One cannot ignore the obvious overlap between a casual coolness suggested by comfy slippers and the boychicness of trendy brogues by looking at this Topshop edition. And that's the look I was going for when sliding my feet into these jewels. Their velvety softness and luxurious starry pattern only convinced me that it could only feel right to sport them. It's like the late MJ's famous leather dancing brogues and Dolce&Gabbana's AW 2011 leather star cutout brogues had a baby only for it to become the perfect footwear for the ultimate fashion star.

All jokes and anecdotes aside, I can only attest that I DO get a brilliant feeling whenever I'm wearing them! And who knows, maybe I'll get the famous Michael Jackson lean one day, if I manage to implement his secret, that is: in order to achieve his 45-degree angle lean, MJ used special shoes as well as a trick on the stage floor. When the time came for the move, a peg-like aperture would protrude from the dance floor. The shoe's heel featured a triangular cutout that could be hitched onto the peg, anchoring MJ to lean much farther forward and hence blow our minds away. Fashion star or superstar, or just a regular star reading my blog, why don't you indulge too and you'll see what I mean...

Boho never goes out of Chic

After a short break, I'm ready to dissect some style.


Here's the deal: picture Jehdy. Remember Jehdy flaunting her animal prints? Little did you know she could sport different styles, including Boho Chic. 


Boho Chic borrows its name from bohemians, the free spirited vagabonds, wanderers, gypsies, hippies, artists, children of the revolution, and members of other open minded counter cultures. The term “bohemian” has been used in since the 19th century to describe those associated with unorthodox social and political views. Bohemians recognize and respect the vast beauty that this planet  as well as its people contain. These views were often expressed through free love, free spirited nature, nomadic lifestyle, strong artistic influence, and presenting oneself in free flowing, easy to wear clothing and uninhibited accoutrements. 


Boho Chic is hence associated with the laid back style of 1960′s and 70′s hippie fashion, and was revived in 2008 by gypsy style icon Sienna Miller. Features of the Boho Chic look include floaty skirts (especially long white ones), furry gilets, embroidered tunics, cropped jackets, large faux-coin belts, sheepskin and cowboy boots, baggy cardigans and hobo bags.

Dissecting the return (and reinterpretation) of the Glam Punk era

It seems like we’re still trending on the 80’s vibe—more specifically the glam punk of the earlier part of the decade. The Glam punk of the 80s, the oldest punk style, is associated with glitter, androgynous make-up, brightly-dyed hair, combat boots, and cigarette jeans. Emerging as a reaction to the flared trouser hippies, Glam punk fashion mixed basics with powerful pieces to add a rebellious touch to the woman’s outfit. This style has been extremely commercialized at various times, and many well-established fashion designers — such as Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier— have used punk elements in their production.The legging and cigarette jeans craze remains particularly in vogue today, and designers such as Balmain pair these must-have basics with the golds and metals of the 1980's club scene.

Sadly—or not, I won’t be dying my hair nor busting out a crazy makeup do anytime soon, but I sure do sport the 80’s glam punk style in my own way!
